My 30 Second Elevator Pitch

As you already may know, my name is Karim Harji. I completed my MBA with University Honours at Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business. Upon completing the program, I had concentrations in Finance, Operations, Strategy, Marketing, and Business Technology and finished the Entrepreneurship track. While completing my MBA, I worked as the Project Management Lead at Trudell Medical Limited in the corporate office, managing projects across various operating companies and departments. The operating entities vary in industry, including medical device manufacturing, distribution, surgical equipment manufacturing, respiratory home care and diagnostics.

Before Trudell Medical Limited, I worked at MTFX Group Inc. (i.e., MTFX Foreign Exchange) where I developed a platform for students to pay their tuition fees in local currency (i.e., a student from India paying in INR to go to school in Canada). The web-based platform allowed students to create a transaction based on the amount going to the educational institution (including all fees). The student would remit the payment in their local currency, we would convert the funds into the currency of the educational institution, and release the daily batch of EFTOs to the Accounts Receivable team of each school. We will get into the various aspects of the role in a future post. However, before we proceed, I would like to conclude by mentioning that I come from a background in process control, having studied Chemical and Bioengineering at McMaster University.

In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering; I currently serve as the Committee Director for Community Engagement at the Canadian Cancer Society's Run for the Cure. I previously managed and founded a nonprofit organization called Community Cornerstone.

It’s time to go beyond the superficial stuff - lets talk about what I have done in greater detail and where my future focus is.

Chat soon.

Karim
